Using SEO to Land on Page One

    Date Added: 2011-03-30 14:40:18

While you can but any of the many internet marketing courses available and offered by those allegedly highly successful internet marketers out there who importune you every time on your mail box, all your efforts will be useless unless you learn how to market using SEO. Be advised that Search Engine Optimization isn’t hard but it needs a lot of hard work, patience and time. Therefore, if you think that you will get off easy and relax because your new online venture requires you to work for only four hours a day, well, prepare because you have something coming to you.

Basically, SEO is the act of improving the quality of traffic coming towards your website through the search engines namely Bing, Yahoo, Google, MSN, to name nut a few. This is called organic or natural search results. Organic results as we all know give a website online presence.

Most people, if not all, who get online to look for whatever information they want will use the search engines, and will key in the search boxes of search engines certain keywords related to the service or product or whatever it is they want. Basically, when the keywords you have optimized your website for are searched on the search engines, your website will appear on the first page of the search engine results page, and even better in the 1st – 4th positions. This means that it will get all the traffic that is searching through the keywords. To many webmasters, especially those budding webmasters, this sounds too good to be true, but it is true, but there is a lot of work done behind the scenes to actually get people come and search out what you have on offer without you having to pay for leads or to pay exorbitantly high to those lead generation companies.

There is a significant difference between SEO and Marketing. In marketing, you start by paying for the leads, and then there is more work involved as you will market to your target audience using auto responders and also qualifying letters in the hope that you can woe them to visit your website. As for search engine optimization, you simply take the time to learn how the search engines work, what it is that your target audience are looking for, and then go ahead to optimize your website by editing all its content and all coding and HTML to boost its relevance to your keywords. You also learn how to get rid of all barriers that get in the way of the search engines visiting your website, commonly known as crawling.

There you have it, the difference of the two common ways to get traffic to your website, and why you should consider Search Engine Optimization. This shouldn’t be construed to mean that Search Engine Optimization stops at those few steps outlined above. No, there is a whole lot more involved in order to get the website in the first page of the search engines results such as adding your link at Linkroo.com, but this is a story for another day.
